Chartered Accountancy course offered by the statutory body- The Institute
of Chartered Accountants of India is perhaps one of the most sought after

in the exciting field of finance, accountancy and number crunching. The

JOB PROFILE
Accounting:
The job would include writing and balancing of books of accounts, financial
statements, receipts, vouchers, balance sheets and other financial statements
as required by the Companies Act.
Auditing:
The purpose of audit is to satisfy the users of financial statements and
authorities that the books of accounts made and presented to them are drawn
up on correct accounting principles and accounting standards as laid down
by the institute. As per various statutes like companies Act and other regulations,
CAs perform financial, cost and tax audits. A CA can either be an internal
auditor- a part of the company or he may be an external auditor where he
comes to visit companies for carrying out audit.
Investigation and Inspections:
Services of CAs are extensively used by various authorities like Income
Tax, Sales Tax authorities, stock exchanges etc. for carrying out investigations
and inspections of companies, market intermediaries like stock brokers,
depository participants and individuals to ascertain violation of any tax
laws and establish tax liability, violations of stock exchange rules, depository
rules and SEBI rules and regulations.
Consulting:
The intense training and education imparted to CAs also make them eligible
for the exciting field of corporate law advice, Capital market advisory
services, project planning and finance, management accounting and consulting,
internal audit advice, financial planning and restructuring such as amalgamation,
capital restructuring, absorption and take over of companies, designing
instruments for tax planning and investment advice etc.
Taxation:
CAs who gave developed expertise in the field of taxation provide advisory
as well as audit service in the area of direct taxes such as Income tax,
Corporate Tax, Wealth Tax as well as indirect taxation like sales tax and
excise and customs duty, value added tax etc. The expertise developed by
professionals are also extensively used for making representations before
tax authorities and appellate tribunals and they also argue on behalf of
their clients before these authorities.
Cost Accountancy and Cost Audit:
CAs are also equipped to maintain cost auditing records, compiling cost
information, installing cost controls and for performing cost audits. In
various industry such as pharmaceuticals, textile etc., sometimes the government
orders cost audit to verify the costs so as to determine the prices of drugs
etc. It is here that the skills of the CAs are used.
