Job opportunities in Paralegal Services

While lawyers assume final responsibility for legal duties, they regularly delegate many of their everyday jobs to paralegals. Paralegals are continuing to assume a growing range of tasks in the Nation's legal offices and perform many of the same tasks as lawyers. On the other hand, they are still explicitly prohibited from carrying out duties that are considered to be the practice of law, such as setting legal fees, giving legal advice, and presenting cases in court.

Paralegals in law firms regularly perform a variety of duties that require a general awareness of the law. For example, they may research judicial decisions on improper police arrests or help prepare a mortgage contract. Paralegals employed by large law firms, government agencies, and corporations, however, are more likely to specialize in one aspect of the law. Due to the importance of the Paralegal professionals, lots of organizations are offering the courses in Paralegal.

There are numerous ways to become a paralegal. The other common method of entry, mainly for those who already have a college degree, is through a course that leads to a certification in paralegal studies. A small number of schools also offer bachelors and master’s degrees in paralegal studies.
